PATRONS:   Yes to help off set extra things and keep the price for everyone, to cover JUST the meal

Nancy was kind and set up our next meeting at Spring Ford CC.   This WILL BE ON, WEDNESDAY,  JUNE 25, 6:45 PM.   We are planning to have drinks and light food then get a tour of CC and meet with the manager.

IT IS VERY IMPORTANT that you let Suzanne Shank know YES or NO for this meeting as she will then pass this on to Nancy and she will give the CC our count for the meeting table.  Contact Suzanne at Suzanne@GoAtlasTravel.com, mimshank@yahoo.com or call 610-279-2535.

REMEMBER, we are checking out this CC and have the date tentatively reserved, we would like your input.  Nothing is set in stone.

Notes and Pictures from the second Meeting

For those of you who attended the meeting last night at SF CC, I thank you VERY MUCH.   The CC was very nice and would make a nice impression to the class.  We saw the room we would be using and were shown how it would be set up.

We met with the manager and did some menu brainstorming.   Here’s our thoughts:   We will have grazing stations for:  Beef, carving station, chicken station and Pasta bar there will be 2 vegetables and salad (bar or Caesar).  We would end w/a dessert table and coffee, tea & Iced tea would be offered.

Nancy, thank you for arranging the evening and for your work, thus far.

Larry presented to us his suggestion for the letter to be sent in October requesting donations.  These would offset the price of the meal plus mailings, printing, music, decorations.   We want to TRY to make the ticket price affordable for ALL.  No question Larry spent time, trouble and thought in doing this letter.  EXCEPT for 2 MINOR changes the committee felt it was good to go.

Thank you LARRY for ALL of YOUR HARD WORK.

NOW, I am reminding you about the July 23rd at 6:30 PM meeting at Indian Valley CC which Suzanne Brook has set up for us.   We will again meet the mgr. go over the menu, and see the room.

We will also be able to have drinks and a light meal during this time.   How this was worked this time, Nancy put the total on her account and we each marked down the price of what we ate/drank including tax & tip and then gave this to Nancy.   Please have some small bills so we don’t need change.  THANKS.

This will give us an idea of the quality of food and presentation and ALSO the type attitude of the staff and their service.   All of which is VERY IMPORTANT.

After this meeting, 7/23, I would like to have a meeting in early August to discuss both places and give one our answer.  This way all should be very fresh in our minds for us to make a clear decision.

If someone would like to volunteer to have the next meeting, this would be great.   Joe Carbo gave me a CD demo for a band, One2Many. I would like to play this CD that evening.   Their price for:  6 piece ensemble consisting of 2 female & 2 male vocalists with guitars, keyboard, bass & drums is $725 for 4 hrs with $150 for each additional hr. Usually clubs will provide some type of meal for the band and WE WILL NEED THIS COST as well  NANCY & SUZANNE.

So FAR COMMITTEE “A JOB WELL DONE”   see you 7/23.

OH------------------PLEASE be sure to tell me yes OR no for the meeting as they CC wants to set the tables for us.   Thanks.   ss

The third meeting will be held on Wednesday, July 23, 2008 (starting at 6:30 PM) at the Indian Valley Country Club in Telford.  The committee plans to have drinks and light food then get a tour of CC and meet with the manager.  Whether you are a current committee member or want to volunteer as a new committee member it is imperative that you notify Suzanne Shank (before July 18, 2008) if you are planning to attend this meeting.

Notes and Pictures from the third Meeting

First announcement:    NEXT MEETING-----ALICE NAGLE’S HOUSE,  MONDAY, AUGUST 18,   7:00 PM.  David has prepared for us 4 printed sheets which he distributed.   He has asked that you look over them, making corrections or additions and these will be discussed at this meeting.   Acrobat PDF files will be emailed to all committee members.  I am going to give you information on what we experienced last evening at IVCC and THANK Suzanne B NOW for her work and suggestion for this.

  1. I want to thank JOE Carbo for ALL the HARD work he did in calling/visiting 9 other places and then doing a spread sheet with facts and prices for these places.  This CONFIRMED to the committee that the two places we are considering ARE THE BEST CHOICES for our needs.   These sheets will be available to see at Alice’s when we make the site selection fot yhe 50th.
  1. NOW for what we saw and experienced last evening at IVCC.
    • We were met by Amanda, a very knowledgeable young woman who is the Banquet Manager
    • We were assigned 2 wait staff who took our drink orders plus meal order (this was then prepared while we saw the facility)
    • Amanda then took us into the ball room/s area
    • There are two VERY LARGE rooms which can be opened into one and can easily hold 250 PLUS (about 5000 square feet - more than any previous indoor reunion)
    • The one section has about a 12 ft ceiling while the other has a Vaulted ceiling (perfect for David’s video projection)
    • Everything is carpeted except the dance floor/s, tile ceilings and curtains on windows  (great noise reducers)
    • There are 2 drop projection screens which David may be able to use, and plenty of outlets around the room/s as well as a full PA system
    • The band/dj can have a nice amount of space at the end of the room for his/her setup
    • As IVCC has JUST been TOTALLY redone,  EVERYTHING is new and pristine
    • There are two bars and depending on our numbers, both can be open, thus lines reduced
    • Amanda suggested IF our numbers are high to have TWO SETS of STATIONS (2 carved beef, 2 chicken & veggies, 2 pasta) AGAIN CUTTING DOWN ON LINES
    • These sets of stations are filled from each side so that the staff does NOT have to walk through the tables to fill/get to them
    • Also her suggestion was to DELAY the dessert slightly and keeping it open longer as people like to “pick” a little before driving home.  (We did this at our 45th and it was a great SUCCESS!)
    • She also will set up beverage stations coffee/tea/ice water where people may go throughout the evening
    • The entrance for the ballroom is 1 flight down (stairs PLUS elevator)
    • Having this separate entrance means we do NOT have to take any space from the room/s.  This area presents a very pleasant area to have our table and greeters
    • The parking for this entrance is just beyond a garden area using a lovely walking path, (no roads to cross), with handicapped parking being right on the other side of the garden (the gardens are lovely and this area has a gazebo for anyone wanting to take pictures)
    • AFTER we saw all of this we went back into our room for our drinks and meal which was ready to be served.  I asked everyone how their food was and ALL were not only please but did get what they ordered and how they wanted it. A BIG Plus---each person was given his/her wallet containing their own bill in which they put their payment.  GREAT IDEA.
    • Amanda then came in with her proposal for our event.   This she handed copies out to everyone.   I will have copies for anyone who missed seeing this.  Without 100% detail I will BRIEFLY tell you  (these are all grazing stations with attendants when required:  Salad & Warm Mixed Breads,  (assorted greens toppings as well as dressing); Beef carving station w béarnaise & horseradish sauces; Chicken Francaise with potatoes & veggie; Pasta Station with 2 pastas & 3 choices of sauce plus Parm & red pepper flakes;  Dessert station with assorted cakes, pies plus coffee/tea stations.
  • She ALSO will include mirrors & votives for each table which will help make a lovely presentation area for whatever Eva suggests.
  • We can have white cloths with royal blue napkins keeping with our theme.

See you at Alice’s on August 18 which is a Monday at 7 PM PLEASE ADVISE YES or NO if you are coming.   ss
